There are a number of support groups and organisations available in the Bailiwick that Guernsey Mind work with and signpost too.

The following list contains details about some of the local services currently available – please note that it is not an exhaustive list and other charitable services may be available. We have added categories for each organisation, but many offer additional services.

Action for Children - YOUNG PEOPLE / ADDICTION / HOUSING

Action for Children provide FREE support for young people under 25 years old, with housing, accommodation, employability and substance use issues.

 
Age Concern Guernsey - OLDER PEOPLE

Organises four social centres in Guernsey. Each centre meets on one afternoon a week. Members come to play games such as dominoes, cards, or scrabble, and to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee 

Alcoholics Anonymous - ADDICTION

A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. 

Alzheimer’s Society Guernsey - OLDER PEOPLE / HEALTH

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

At Home Guernsey - ACCOMMODATION
Supporting people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Autism Guernsey - HEALTH / NEURO DIVERSITY

Our aim is to ensure those with autism are able to lead full, positive and inclusive lives and a reasonable degree of independence.

Bailiwick Social Prescribing - HEALTH / WELLBEING

Bailiwick Social Prescribing is a free scheme or adults over the age of 18 linking people with sources of non-medical support, based on ‘what matters to you’ and helping to improve health and wellbeing. 

BeSafer - YOUNG PEOPLE

BeSafer is an online resource for young people of the Bailiwick to access information about relationships.

Bright Beginnings - CHILDREN / FAMILIES

Bright Beginnings Children’s Centre supports you through pregnancy, birth and beyond. Our Children’s Centre provides a universal service made up of fun activities and support for all of parents and care-givers with children under 5.

Carers Guernsey - HEALTH / WELLBEING

Carers Guernsey aims to make life better for carers by providing emotional and practical support, giving carers a voice in matters that affect them, providing a central service for information and advice and helping to identify and develop various carers services.

Citizens Advice Guernsey - FINANCES / GENERAL SUPPORT

Free independent and impartial advice on relationship, employment, housing, debt or consumer problems.

CDAT - ADDICTION

The Community Drug and Alcohol Team work with anyone over the age of 18 whose drug and/or alcohol consumption is causing problems, which generally include withdrawal symptoms. Please note: GP referral is needed to access CDAT.

Dementia Friendly Guernsey - OLDER PEOPLE / HEALTH / WELLBEING

Offers general information and dementia awareness sessions for those supporting the individual with dementia. 

Edible Guernsey - HEALTH / WELLBEING / COMMUNITY

Gardening relieves stress, provides exercise, and introduces peer support. In this way a community is seeded and grown alongside our wonderful crops. At Edible we are growing organic foods (free of fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides) that are abundant and delicious. We are pioneering ‘low till’ and ‘no till’ forms of growing that not only protect, but actually enhance our soil’s health.

Supports disabled and disadvantaged people to prepare for, find and maintain work in Guernsey.

 
Guernsey Police – reporting sexual offences - HEALTH

Guernsey Police have designed a guide to provide information for anyone considering reporting a rape or sexual offence, as well as those who have already begun their journey after a report has been made.

Guernsey Sailing Trust - GENERAL

The Guernsey sailing trust can offer opportunities either privately through self funding or though a care agency such as Mental Health services.

Speak to an Occupational Therapist about access this thrilling opportunity to sail or try powerboat racing. 

Guernsey Suicide Awareness Group - SUICIDE SUPPORT

A community for support and healing after experiencing loss through suicide. Connect with others who understand the journey.

Guernsey Voluntary Service - OLDER PEOPLE / SUPPORT

The GVS provides a comfortable meeting place for the older members of the community where they can take pleasure in the company of others, enjoy good food and benefit from the facilities that the centres have to offer. Members must generally be over the age of 65 and mobile. There is a small charge for the day which covers all meals and facilities.

Guernsey Welfare Service - SUPPORT / FINANCES

An independent Christian charity with representatives from a number of island churches. The services offeres include vouchers, foodbank, life skills, money coaching, tree of joy, Guernsey linking lives, parent empowerment programme, nightstop, faith and signposting.

Guernsey Women’s Refuge - ABUSE / SUPPORT / ACCOMMODATION

Emergency accommodation and support services for victims of domestic abuse, including a 24 hour telephone helpline.

Health Connections Guernsey - SUPPORT / GENERAL / LONELINESS

Health Connections connect people in the Bailiwick through an innovative Directory to Doorstep service. View over 530 community assets on our web site directory at healthconnections.gg and we can help you decide what matters to you. 

Healthy Minds - MENTAL HEALTH / WELLBEING

Healthy Minds falls under The Committee for Health & Social Care and offer short term therapeutic interventions for adults who are suffering with mild-moderate anxiety and/or depression. They also offer support to clients who have experienced single event traumas. 

You can either refer yourself using the self-referral portal (https://www.iaptportal.co.uk/guernsey.html) or your GP can help you to complete our referral form.  

You will receive an initial email confirming your referral has been sent to us and once we have received your referral, a text message will be sent confirming that we will be in contact. 

Once your referral has been processed, you will receive a link via text message to use our online booking system to book your initial telephone assessment.  

After the telephone assessment, you and the therapist will agree a plan for what happens next, where you may be offered face to face therapy. It is important that you commit to attend all planned sessions in order to gain the most benefit.

Providing support and signposting for those suffering from PND, as well as their relatives and friends. The Charity will seek to increase awareness of PND, and in turn reduce any stigma that may remain about suffering from or receiving help for PND.

Quitline provide FREE specialist help and advice on all the latest stop smoking methods and FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy or free vape starter kits.

Royal British Legion – Guernsey - MILITARY / SUPPORT

The Royal British Legion is here on Guernsey to help members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families. Our support starts after one day of service and continues through life, long after service is over.

Safer - ABUSE / SUPPORT

A domestic abuse charity supporting all victims of domestic abuse whether they be adults, children, women or men.

Victim Support and Witness service - CRIME / SUPPORT

Staff and volunteers provide emotional support, practical help and information to victims and witnesses of crime, as well as friends and family. Regardless of when the crime occurred or whether it was reported.

Victoria Hospital Incorporated - HEALTH

Victoria Hospital Incorporated is a Medical Charity set up to assist Bailiwick of Guernsey residents with medical and medically-related expenses.

VHI assists residents of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, who may make a claim for assistance for themselves and for their families.

Wellbeing Animals Guernsey - HEALTH / WELLBEING

Providing animal assisted support to bring therapeutic benefit to people of all ages in a variety of situations.

Willow House - ABUSE / SUPPORT

Willow House Sexual Assault Referral Centre is a service in the Bailiwick offering free emotional and practical support as well as forensic medical to anyone who has experienced rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse.

Our clients can access Willow House as a self-referral, via the Police and through other professionals. To self-refer, clients can contact the SARC directly to arrange an appointment without Police involvement.We also offer information and support to friends and family. Willow House sits within the Committee for Home Affairs for the States of Guernsey.
