New children’s book

A magical journey awaits young readers in “Lucy’s Journey,” a new children’s book by local author Linda Le Vasseur, inspired by Peter Le Vasseur’s iconic “The Tree of Life” painting.

Commissioned by Guernsey Museums 25 years ago for the millennium, “The Tree of Life” captured the hearts of islanders, winning The People’s Choice award in 2010. Now, its enchanting imagery comes to life in a heartwarming tale that supports mental health in Guernsey.

“Lucy’s Journey” tells the story of a young girl whose dreams are inspired by a copy of “The Tree of Life” hanging in her bedroom. Peter Le Vasseur has created several stunning new illustrations for the book.

Linda Le Vasseur shared, “Writing ‘Lucy’s Journey’ has been a truly special experience. I wanted to create a story that captures the wonder and joy that ‘The Tree of Life’ has brought to so many, while also supporting a cause close to my heart.”

The book has been generously funded by the Smile for Georgie Foundation, established in memory of Georgie Le Prevost, who tragically passed away in a road accident in 2017. Her parents, André and Jenny Le Prevost, founded the Foundation to spread kindness and positivity throughout Guernsey, reflecting Georgie’s vibrant spirit.

André and Jenny Le Prevost added, “We are so proud to support ‘Lucy’s Journey.’ This book embodies the values that Georgie held dear – creativity, compassion, and a love for Guernsey. We hope it brings smiles to children’s faces for years to come.”

All proceeds from the sales of “Lucy’s Journey” will be donated to Guernsey Mind, an independent mental health charity dedicated to supporting mental health and wellbeing within the local community.

Jo Cottell, chief executive at Guernsey Mind, expressed her gratitude: “We are incredibly thankful to Linda and Peter, and the Smile for Georgie Foundation, for their support. ‘Lucy’s Journey’ is a beautiful and inspiring book that will help us continue our vital work in promoting positive mental health across the Bailiwick.”
