Mental Health First Aid Training

This internationally recognised training course teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. Research and evaluation shows that taking part in an MHFA course raises awareness and mental health, can reduce stigma, boosts knowledge and confidence and promotes early intervention.

Delegates will develop:

  • How to spot signs of a range of mental health issues
  • How to guide a person to appropriate support
  • Knowledge of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • How to confidently step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental listening
  • Understanding of how to keep themselves safe

  • How to spot when someone is struggling and when to offer support
  • Knowledge of the most common mental health issues
  • How to help build a mentally healthy workplace
  • Challenge stigma and support positive wellbeing

Delegates will be reminded of the skills and techniques used to support people with mental health issues, whilst keeping themselves safe. It is recommended that skills are refreshed every three years.
