Signposting information

As an MHFAider, your role is to listen and support someone, but you cannot fix their problems for them.
An important part of your role is being able to ‘signpost’ people in the right direction to find further information and support.
If you are unsure where to direct someone or how best to support them, please contact us at Guernsey Mind on 01481 722959 or email info@guernseymind.org.gg
Local signposting
There are a number of local support groups and organisations available in the Bailiwick that Guernsey Mind work with and signpost too. The following link contains details about some of the local services currently available – please note that it is not an exhaustive list and other charitable services may be available.
Tips for everyday living
Living with a mental health problem can often have an impact on day to day life, making things that others might not think about a bit more difficult. There are a number of handy tips and guides to help cope with everyday things like money, work, university and more available on the national Mind website.
A-Z of mental health
The national Mind website contains a really useful section covering a wide range of mental health topics. You can find out more about support and options for a wide range of issues, along with tips for friends and families. As well as signposting people to this excellent resource, you can also find out more about various issues for yourself.
Online support
There is so much support available online, it can be difficult to know where to start. Although it is based in the UK, the website at mind.org.uk is a valuable source of information.
We have identified some key areas to find further support.
