The London Marathon is one of the most inspirational events of the year, bringing together thousands of runners and supporters to raise funds for countless charities.

For the first time, Guernsey Mind has been allocated a charity place in the 2026 London Marathon. This means every pound raised by our runner will go directly to supporting mental health in our community.

After inviting applications for this unique opportunity, we’re thrilled to announce that Luke Penney will be running for Guernsey Mind!

Alongside Luke, two incredible runners – Darren Broad and Jon Allaway – who secured their own individual ballot places, have generously chosen to run in support of Guernsey Mind. We are so grateful to them for joining our cause.

A huge thank you to Luke, Darren, and Jon for their commitment. We can’t wait to support them throughout their training and cheer them on in April 2026!

Luke Penney

Luke will be running under Guernsey Mind’s charity ballot place in the 2026 London Marathon. Luke is an experienced runner with several marathons and challenges under his belt.

I’m running for Guernsey Mind because I want to promote how running and staying active can support mental wellbeing, offering a healthy way to face life’s challenges. Guernsey Mind is a fantastic charity providing support and resources, and I’m thrilled to support them through my fundraising and proudly represent Guernsey at the London Marathon.

Darren Broard

London 2026 will be Darren’s first marathon, and he is already training hard for the event.

I am delighted to have been successful in the ballot for the 2026 TCS London Marathon and I wanted to raise money for a charity close to my heart and Guernsey Mind is providing vital support for our local community. I have struggled with my mental health in the past and have been lucky enough to have received guidance and strategies to help support me. Mental health can affect us all at some point in our lives and it is important we all recognise there is help and support out there.

Jon Allaway

After originally applying for the Guernsey Mind allocated place, Jon was delighted to receive his own individual ballot place, and has decided to raise money for Guernsey Mind.

Training for and running a marathon is as much a mental battle as it is a physical one. I’m proud to be running the Marathon for Guernsey Mind and raise awareness and funds for an organisation that plays a vital role in strengthening our community’s mental health and this is the motivation I will use to carry me forwards.
