Buxton Movers is a sponsored initiative for anyone looking to boost their mental wellbeing by getting active in a friendly, supportive group.
Moving your body isn’t just good for your physical health – it’s great for your mind, too. Being active can help reduce stress, improve your sleep and mood, build confidence, and even give you a chance to connect with nature and meet new people.

Thanks to sponsorship from Buxton Water through Mind nationally, Guernsey Mind has secured funding to offer 14 free spots in this programme.
Buxton Movers welcomes everyone, no matter your fitness level or experience. Whether you’re new to exercise, getting back into running, or just want to join a group that’s easy to access, this is for you.
We’ve teamed up with Lee Merrien Running to bring you an 8-week programme with sessions twice a week: Wednesday evenings at Footes Lane and Saturday mornings at Saumarez Park. You should attend all sessions to get the most out of the course.
If you have any queries, there are some frequently asked questions at the bottom of this page or contact Guernsey Mind on 01481 722959 or email info@guernseymind.org,gg
Come join us and take the first step toward feeling better – physically and mentally.

FREE place
All members of the Buxton Movers group will be offered a FREE place in the Guernsey Mind 10K Challenge on Sunday 31st August (with the option to run 5K).
What equipment do I need?
You don’t need any fancy equipment… just yourself and a positive attitude! Shorts or light jogging trousers are suitable, along with a pair of trainers or running shoes. Guernsey Mind can supply a t-shirt. If you have any issues, please contact us on 01481 722959 or email info@guernseymind.org.gg
Do I have to attend all sessions?
Sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6pm (at Footes Lane) and Saturday mornings from 8am (at Saumarez Park) for an 8-week period starting on Wednesday 9th July. The sessions last just over an hour.
To maximise the benefit from the programme, you should attend all sessions. Along with this, it is really good for the group to work together and support each other in working towards a shared goal. If you have any issues with getting to the sessions, please contact us on 01481 722959 or email info@guernseymind.org.gg
What happens at the sessions?
Every session includes general & running specific warm up exercises to help improve your conditioning & mobility as well as developing your running technique. The course is structured to build up your endurance steadily so that you can go from little or indeed no previous running to being able to run your first 5km.
Who can join the group?
Our course is open to both men and women aged 16 and above and will take you from no running or limited running to being able to run 5km.
If you have any concerns about accessibility or your capability, please contact us on 01481 722959 or email info@guernseymind.org.gg
