Which course is best for me and my workplace?
Deciding on the right course is an important part of being a MHFAider® not only for yourself as an individual, but also if you are part of an organisation that wishes to train several people, as it may depend on the size of your budget and number of employees.
MHFAEngland has a mission to train 1 in 10 of the adult population, which is about creating long-lasting cultural change. If enough people are trained, together we can continue to build a society where everyone’s mental health matters.
All of these courses can be run in-house if the minimum number of delegates is reached. Alternatively we may be able to collaborate with smaller companies to have enough delegates to successfully run the course.

Mental Health First Aider®
As an MHFAider® you will be able to:
- Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention.
- Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports.
- Practise active listening and empathy.
- Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma.
- Discuss the MHFAider® role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality.
- Practise self-care.
- Know how to use the MHFAider Support App®.
- Know how to access a dedicated text service provided by Shout and ongoing learning opportunities with MHFA England®.

Mental Health Champion
As an MHFA® Champion, you will gain:
- An understanding of common mental health issues.
- Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness.
- Ability to spot signs of mental ill health.
- Skills to support positive wellbeing.

Mental Health Refresher
The 4-hour MHFA Refresher course gives you the chance to:
- Renew your skills.
- Update your knowledge of mental health support.
- Practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan.
- Access three years of MHFAider® Support and Benefits.
